Gewürzt in German means “spice” or “herb” and traminer is a type of grape grown in the Alsace region of France. A Gewürztraminer has light and fresh flavors, similar to the taste of a Sauvignon Blanc wine, since it is a mutation of this grape. It grows best in colder climates and is most popular in Germany, Austria, and Northern France.  In recent years, it has also found its home in Canada.
